Cedar Strip Canoe
Latest and greatest- (in progress) Hand made, one of a kind, 16 ft. Cedar Strip Canoe. This project, started in November, will be a major part of my Senior project. The wood (over $400 worth) was purchased by my school. I am building this canoe from start to finish then raffling it off. All of the proceeds will be donated back into my schools Woodshop.
What is my motivation for this undertaking? It’s something new. I’ve NEVER even dreamed of building a boat. I never really knew what went into the planning and building of such a project. All of the angles, checking for squareness, level, etc. is extra extra important. After establishing my stations on the strong back (the vertical pieces) and making sure they were perfectly square to each other, the next big step was starting to staple down the small cedar strips.
Here’s a look into what i’ve completed and whats to come-
