I stopped in to see the canoe yesterday. Those seats are going to look SO NICE. They will really set it off well. Every time I see this masterpiece it makes me SO proud. Since you are my son, Spence, I may be a little biased, but it truly is a work of art. As Mr. Duke stated, this project is so formidable he hasn’t had a student attempt to build one for 22 years! However, it did not surprise me when you told me you were going to build a canoe. I never doubted, not even for a second, your ability or dedication. When you get an idea in your head you ALWAYS follow through with it and it is done to perfection. I truly hope whoever wins this canoe takes as much pride in being the new owner of it as you have being the builder of it. Again, Grandpa Schauman would be so proud!

Spencer, You are doing a wonderful job on this canoe. Very nice selection of the strips for color and symetry. I am looking forward to seeing this boat when it is finished, do you have any appearences planned to sell tickets? Who’s design is this?

Spence, it’s beautiful!! You have been working so hard on this and have given many, many hours of not only school time, but personal time into completing this project. I hope whoever wins this canoe appreciates all of the hard work that has gone into making it. I wish Grandpa Schauman was still here to admire ALL of your hard work. I am so proud of you, Spence!!!!
