“Life Vegetates”

I thought of this the other day.  Life has a way of making every day the best thing in the world or the worst thing.  (right now your probably wondering, so much for the wood working huh spence.. haha, sorry, but as you know this is my third quote I’ve posted and they help add a little).

Life Vegetates.  I thought of this (and its two meanings) one night.  We know the word Vegetate as being referred to growing or eating.  We can then make the assumption that this quote is meant to be said in good terms.  Life helps us grow. We grow by filling our body with nutrients obtained from food. Any food.  Ok, so it’s best to eat healthy food.  haha. Thats my nutritional education for the day.  ; ) We grow by meeting people, by experiencing things and living openly. Life gives us the chance to explore as much as we want. It’s up to us on whether or not we want to pursue that.

Life vegetates.  I feel it has a negative meaning too.  We can think of the word Vegetates again by eating; destroying something else.  No, this isn’t my negativity.  It just caught my attention as I began pondering the meaningfulness of these words adjoined.  So, maybe, in the context of negativity, Life has a way of eating itself.  In a matter such as self-destruction.

In the end, these words are dependent upon how the individual interprets them.  The individual, You. The reader.  You know, this is similar to the optimistic/pessimistic test of whether or not the glass is half full or half empty.  Think of my quote and how you interpret it to yourself.  Maybe a change needs to happen.

This is in no way meant to hurt anyone.  Just a little philosophy.  : )

Best Regards,

It’s been a while..

My last post was in the middle of March. School, sports, and other activities pull me in different directions one a daily basis. It’s good to have change here and there. In fact, I just returned from my spring break trip to Jamaica. I resided with 6 of my good friends within an all-inclusive resort for 6 days. Paradise..

It was beautiful. My highlight was going scuba diving. The underwater world is something I have never experience before until now. Life underwater is an eye-opener and I guarantee I will be scuba diving many more times throughout my life.

A new cigar pen page (on the right side) was put up this afternoon. It’s nothing too long but hopefully some of you will find a slight interest. As for now, I’m off to work! Enjoy the rest of your weekend..

Oh, and here’s my latest quote..

Fulfill your everyday life with adventure, not routine. Life is too short to act habitually. A healthy mind survives on distinction, exploration, and enthusiasm.

So far so good..

Hey everyone.

Just wanted to send a quick shout out to all who have viewed my site/blog.  I’m surprised with the total views esp. since i’ve only been open for about a week.  This is the eight day i’ve been up and we’ve hit (as of this minute) 377 page views.  I’m very proud of those results.  Thats on average 50 page views since the opening.  Yesterday was the best day with just over 97 hits.

I’m working on more content at the moment.  So far all it has been is idea after idea but I need to find a way for people who visit, to have a meaning to come back! I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve but as for now i’m slowly becoming more and more recognized through organizations on Facebook and mybloglog.com.  Those are the  big boys for now.. Until then… thanks for the support!
All the best and have a great week! : )

Success begins with a thought.

Friday, March 14, 2008 by Spence

I’ve always been intrigued by motivational quotes. There’s just something about them that catches my attention. Whenever I read a good one it’s almost as if I can feel something reaching out at me saying, “hey, you can do that,” or “give it a try, what do you have to lose?”

As it happened, in my English class this past week, we were assigned to create our own “Mission Statement” relating to our lives and what we want to accomplish. Some students blow these opportunities off but I find them inspiring. Our requirements were, well, nothing. It was totally up to us. Some students did drawings, others did phrases. I later on found myself writing a quote on a guideline to success. It went a little something like this,

Every fire begins with an initial flame,

Every flame begins with an initial ember,

And every ember begins with an initial spark.

Every spark has the potential to become a flame. With many flames, one creates a fire. In the same way, dreams can result in success. What many do not realize is that success lies upon the creation of a spark in ones’ mind.

I was happy with how it turned out. That wraps it up for now, please if you have any comments, anything at all we’d love to hear it.

All the best..Have a great weekend.

Ash Coffee Table

This is a table I designed and built last year. It’s made of all white ash. It didn’t take very long besides making the jig for the legs.  Read a little more about it here.

A new beginning.. And a fine one at that!
